Umbrella Care

Caring for Your Rain Umbrella After Use

Example: Nurenza umbrellas
  • 1. Rainwater contains various impurities; lightly wash your umbrella with fresh water (such as in a shower).
  • 2. Open your umbrella and allow it to dry indoors.
  • 3. Once your umbrella has dried off, evenly spray on a layer of off-the-shelf waterproofing spray and allow to dry fully. (The spray will help the fabric to retain its waterproofing.)
Note: Nurenza umbrellas, with their innovative ultra-waterproof fabric, should not be sprayed with waterproofing spray.
  • 4. Close your umbrella and fasten it shut using only the top strap (nearest the handle), and store. (Using the middle strap for long periods of time can cause fabric creasing, discoloration, or damage.)
  • 5. When storing your umbrella, storing it inside of a stocking or similar material will help it maintain its appearance over time. (Stockings work particularly well due to their breathability, gentle constriction, and effectiveness in keeping dust off of your umbrella.)

Caring for Your Rain or Shine Parasol After Use

Example: Natsume rain or shine parasols
  • 1. Rainwater contains various impurities; lightly wash your rain or shine parasol with fresh water (such as in a shower).
  • 2. Open your rain or shine parasol and allow it to dry indoors.
  • 3. Once your rain or shine parasol has dried off, evenly spray on a layer of off-the-shelf waterproofing spray and allow to dry fully. (The spray will help the fabric to retain its waterproofing.)
Note: Natsume rain or shine parasols feature ceramic particles woven into the fabric. As a result, waterproofing spray can cause the texture to take on a shiny appearance, which may affect the overall feel of the parasol.
  • 4. Close your rain or shine parasol and fasten it shut using only the top strap (nearest the handle), and store. (Using the middle strap for long periods of time can cause fabric creasing, discoloration, or damage.)
  • 5. When storing your rain or shine parasol, storing it inside of a stocking or similar material will help it maintain its appearance over time. (Stockings work particularly well due to their breathability, gentle constriction, and effectiveness in keeping dust off of your rain or shine parasol.)

Caring for Your Sun Parasol After Use

  • 1. Brush off any dust and allow to dry indoors.
  • 2. Close your parasol and fasten it shut using only the top strap (nearest the handle), and store. (Using the middle strap for long periods of time can cause fabric creasing, discoloration, or damage.)
  • 3. When storing your parasol, storing it inside of a stocking or similar material will help it maintain its appearance over time. (Stockings work particularly well due to their breathability, gentle constriction, and effectiveness in keeping dust off of your rain or shine parasol.)

Caring for Your Compact Umbrella After Use

We recommend, whenever possible, keeping your compact umbrella open and unfolded. Long-term storage when folded up can cause damage along the creases and cause the fabric to lose its feel. Silk umbrellas in particular are especially susceptible to damage along the creases in the fabric.
